    Full Professor at the University of Minho, Portugal.
    She is the director of the research Centre in Molecular and Environmental Biology from the same university.
    She published more than 110 SCI papers and book chapters.
    She supervised 16 (9 concluded) PhD students and 25 (23 concluded) Master students. She participated in 22 research projects, of which she was the Principal Investigator of 11.
    Her research topics of interest are:
    Biodiversity and freshwater ecosystem functioning; Aquatic pollution from eutrophication, metals, PAHs, nanoparticles and microplastics; Eco-physiology of aquatic fungi; Metals and nanoparticles/microbe interactions; Molecular tools to assess microbial diversity and function in freshwaters. She participated in Guimarães' candidacy for European Green Capital and was at the genesis of the Landscape Laboratory in Guimarães (www.labpaisagem.pt).
    It has had an active role in scientific dissemination, as is the case of the Ciência Andante project with the support of the environmental fund and the Braga City Council
